Since late Tuesday, Chinese Internet users have been experiencing blockages of popular websites like Twitter, Flickr and even Microsoft's new search engine Bing. The first instances of the blockages were reported on Twitter itself with "tweeters" complaining the blockage and slamming the Government's decision.
It is believed that the crackdown is to silence any social networking centered protests against the Tiananmen Square xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. (大清删除)。 The blockage gas also been extended to usually unblocked websites like WordPress, and Blogger. YouTube too has been blocked. But then, that has been targeted by them earlier as well. As for Twitter, the blockage seems to have affected those using the web version of the site. While famous applications like Tweet Deck and Twhirl too have been affected partially, some other applications seem to work fine.
