以“Longer”一曲享誉全球的Dan Fogelberg，以他轻柔的歌喉、清澈的吉他声及动人的词句使他拥有"民谣诗人"的美称。1951年8月13日生于伊利诺州 (Illinois)的Dan Fogelberg，十四岁开始学习钢琴, 后来又进一步学习吉他和作曲，为了往歌唱圈发展，丹佛格伯毅然放弃伊利诺大学艺术系学士学位，开始他的歌唱事业，移居加州，追随 Van Morrison 到各地参加巡回演唱会。1973年与哥伦比亚唱片公司签约，发行的第一张专辑 "Home Free" 成绩并不理想。随后转加入 Epic 唱片公司，第二张专辑"Souvenirs"于1975年推出后，佳评如潮，不但获得乐评家的赞赏，也获得商业上的成功，得到专辑排行第十七名。Dan Fogelberg挤身进入美国知名作曲家兼歌手的行列。他歌唱生涯在商业上最成功的一张专辑则是于1980年推出的"Phoenix"，获得第三名，并成功打入英国排行，至今仍让人津津乐道的抒情佳作"Longer"并获得亚军好成绩。
